What the school year actually looks like — events, four houses and eight clubs.

The flag was hoisted by the school’s longest-serving member of staff — the gardener, Shri Mangal Oraon, in his thirty-first year here. The junior choir sang, the four houses marched, and Class IX read out a short history of Birsa Munda.
Ninety-four working models across four themes. The Class VIII low-cost water filtration unit has been forwarded to the district round, and two Class IX students demonstrated a soil-moisture sensor now installed in the school garden.
The incoming student council took office before the full assembly. The head girl and head boy read the school pledge; house captains received their standards from last year’s holders.
Six hundred children are involved in this year’s production, ‘Roots’, which traces the folk traditions of Jharkhand across two hours and four languages.
Two Class X students placed in the top ten of the Jharkhand state round. Both entries now hang in the corridor outside the art studio.
The whole school, staff included, was on the field at 6:30 am for forty minutes led by our yoga instructor. Parents were invited, and 214 came.
House system
Every student belongs to a house from the day they join, and siblings are always placed together.
Named for Birsa Munda. Colours: bottle green.
Named for Tilka Manjhi. Colours: amber.
Named for Sido Murmu. Colours: royal blue.

Clubs & societies
Membership is free and open. Every student from Class VI upward joins at least one.
Robotics, 3D printing and microcontrollers. Four afternoons a week.
Two telescopes and six observation nights a year, usually from the sports field.
Wheel-throwing, printmaking and the corridor exhibition that changes each term.
Hindustani vocal, western choir and the annual production.
Two external conferences a year and an in-house session each December.
Maintains the 400-tree plantation, the compost pit and the kitchen garden.
A fortnightly book discussion, student-chaired, staff not invited.
Village outreach, book drives and the Each One Teach One programme.
House events, the science fair and Annual Day are open. Passes for Annual Day are issued from the office in November.
